Republican Tea Partier Michelle Bachmann (MN - 6) dropped her bid for the chairmanship of the House Republican Conference after many of her fellow members of the official House Tea Party Caucus endorsed her opponent, Jeb Hensarling (TX - 5). Many have argued that the Tea Party will have less effect than expected on the overall GOP policy in the House of Representatives and this event is certainly evidence to support that claim.
